The idea of being in contact with God as often as possible was fascinating, but the prayer itself did not appeal to me. I tried praying “Jesus Christ” but that was somehow too short. So I kept asking God to show me a suitable prayer.
The answer came one night when I had the following dream:
I was sitting in a crowded church and was trying to listen to the service, but someone on my left was continually whispering, so much so that I could not hear what the priest was saying. I got very annoyed but could not think how to stop the distracting whispering. Suddenly a voice came out of my inmost being that said: “Jesus Christus ist der Herr” (Jesus Christ is Lord). Immediately I was raised up and began flying. It was an awesome experience.
When I woke the next morning, my first thought was: “THAT`S IT!” And amazingly in my bible study the following evening - I was reading Philippians – I read: “And for this God raised him [Jesus] high and gave him the name which is above all names; so that all beings in the heavens, on earth, and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name of Jesus and that every tongue should acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord to the glory of the Father.” Phil 2,9-11. The German translation “Jesus Christus ist der Herr” (Jesus Christ is Lord) was precisely the words that I had heard in my dream.
I was very glad that it was a biblical prayer.
